Just writing things down so I can refer to them when the time comes.
In a house, I will be looking for:
• a central woodstove that is not decorative, but will functionally heat (or at least raised the temperature a few degrees) the house. Most woodstoves are now an after thought that do not do their desired job very well. I want a workhorse, not a show pony.
• a double-bay kitchen sink that has a window over it. Kitchen sinks with no windows leave me feeling clostriphobic.
• not an open floorplan. Houses in New England were built with rooms that could be closed off to conserve heat. People were smart. So it won't be a great party space. Whatever. I'm not into throwing raves.
• Metal roof if I can swing it. Because, snow, yo.
• Backup propane driven generator if I have to deal with well pumps and sump pumps. After one day of living next to someone with a gas generator, I found the sound obnoxious.
• An insulated bathroom. The bathroom in my apartment, once quaint and amusing, is getting old. I'm tired of my rump freezing to the seat every morning.
