First day pack-in is done. All the sections have had *some* work done to them. None are finished, but I have tomorrow and Sunday. All the heavy lifting is done, thank goodness - we had hired local union guys and they were very nice, but pricy. Tomorrow is the fidgety things. People keep asking to help in that half assed way that people ask to help when they really hope you say no, no, I've got this. And so I say no no, I've got this because I don't want to have to go back and do it over again.
For my reference:
Wednesday - 4:30 am - 9:30 pm (1/2 hour lunch) - 11.5
Thursday - 8:30 am - 5:30 (hour lunch) - 8
Friday - 8:00am - 11 pm (1/2 hour lunch) - 14.5
Have made friends with the Display guy they coughed up the money to send down - Dave from Orion. Maybe I can use him as a reference in the future.
Tomorrow kicks off at 9 am. Must complete pack-in, do the light hang on pitifully piss-poor power, clean and tweak the displays. Must run out to Home Deport for silver paint and Staples to get some graphics printed.
Sunday will bring the final walk through - Dave goes home - any minor adjusting to be made - then I get my CDO on in a mad way and wander around vaccuming and hitting everything with a lint free towel and windex.
Once all of that's done, I can tape off any exposed cables - unfortunately there will be some.
This space, BTW, Blows goats. It's not as bad as last year, but I'm willing to bet that it's 3-5' smaller in both dimensions than what we were allowed to think.
Next year I'm advocating for a ballroom. I don't care how much it costs. Fuck this conference room bullshit and it's "intimacy" - we only keep jamming more stuff in rooms that were never meant to handle such things. Next year - Square ballrooms with right angles and nice high ceilings. Damnit.
Now, to bed.
